Little Elm police have arrested a former charter school teacher accused of sexually abusing multiple children. Eric Moore, 30, was taken into custody following an investigation that began after a student made an outcry on January 7. Moore, who taught at North Texas Collegiate Academy East Campus on Oak Grove Parkway, now faces multiple felony charges.
According to police, Moore is charged with indecency with a child–sexual conduct, a second-degree felony, and continuous sexual abuse of a child, a first-degree felony. Investigators confirmed there is more than one victim, though officials declined to say how many, citing the ongoing investigation.
School Response
North Texas Collegiate Academy officials placed Moore on administrative leave the same day the allegations emerged. He resigned shortly thereafter. Superintendent Lisa Stanley said the school promptly contacted the appropriate agencies and is cooperating fully with law enforcement.
“We applaud the diligent efforts of the authorities during this process as they have worked tirelessly and quickly to investigate this deeply troubling situation,” Stanley said. “We recognize the impact on our students, families, and staff, and are ensuring counseling and support services are available.”
Attorney’s Statement
Moore’s attorney, Ashley Feldt, issued a statement to CBS News Texas emphasizing that the public should reserve judgment until evidence is fully reviewed. “While we recognize the gravity of the charges and the understandable public concern, these matters are often far more complex than initial reports suggest,” Feldt said.
Ongoing Investigation
The Little Elm Police Department stated that its investigators continue to work closely with families and social service agencies. “The department is also working to ensure the affected children and their families are connected with appropriate resources as the investigation continues,” police said in a news release.
Authorities are urging anyone with additional information to contact the Little Elm Police Department. “Our hearts are with our students, families, and staff as we navigate this difficult situation together,” Stanley added.
