SWEENY, Texas — The former chief of the Sweeny Fire Department, Timothy Webb, is behind bars after being indicted on multiple felony charges connected to alleged crimes involving minors, according to court records and law enforcement officials.

Arrest and Charges

Webb, who joined the department in 2008, was arrested on Jan. 23 and remains held in the Brazoria County Jail without bond. Prosecutors say a judge denied his release following his indictment on 13 charges involving five children.

Court documents show Webb faces two counts of aggravated sexual assault of a child, seven counts of indecency with a child, and four counts related to prostitution of a child. The reported incidents span multiple years, with dates listed between August 2023 and August 2025.

Mother of Two Victims Speaks Out

A mother of two alleged victims shared that her daughters revealed the abuse months ago. She said she was devastated upon learning what had happened.

“They ended up telling me that they were being sexually exploited and having to do things for money,” the mother said. “No child should have to endure the pain of a grown person touching them. I want my kids to get the justice that they deserve.”

She added that her immediate reaction was rage. “In any parent’s mind, hearing their child being sexually exploited or molested, the immediate thought is, ‘I’m going to kill them,’” she said.

Separate Charges for Former Volunteer Firefighter

Court records indicate that Coleman Pollock, a former volunteer firefighter in Sweeny and a neighbor of Webb, is also charged in a related case. Sweeny police say investigators are examining connections between the two men, including possible exchanges of explicit images involving victims.

Pollock was arrested in September 2025 and charged with three counts of sexual assault of a child and three counts of indecency with a child. His alleged offenses date to Dec. 4, 2024. Pollock is currently free on bond.

Former Chief’s Wife Also Arrested

The Brazoria County District Attorney’s Office confirmed that Webb’s wife was taken into custody in Jackson County over the weekend. She is accused of fleeing with Webb’s children, who are her stepchildren, and cutting off communication.

She has been charged with interfering with child custody and was transferred back to Brazoria County.

City and Police Response

Sweeny Mayor Dusty Hopkins released a statement on Jan. 23, acknowledging the indictments against members of the fire department. He clarified that the department operates independently from the city and said the accused were immediately placed on administrative leave once allegations surfaced.

“These actions were taken to safeguard public safety and preserve the integrity of the investigative process,” the mayor stated. He also reminded the public that an indictment is not a determination of guilt and that all defendants are entitled to due process.

Ongoing Investigation

Sweeny police confirmed that the investigation is ongoing and that additional victims may come forward. Authorities urge anyone with information related to Webb, Pollock, or other potential victims to contact local investigators.

When a firefighter or other public safety officer is accused of sexually assaulting a child, families often feel paralyzed by fear, anger, and confusion about what steps to take next. In this interview, Texas sexual abuse lawyer Anjali Nigam explains the legal paths available to survivors and their families—from reporting the abuse to law enforcement, to pursuing civil claims that can help cover therapy, medical care, and long-term recovery. Nigam explains how cases against firefighters and fire departments are built, what role city or departmental negligence can play, and how the legal process can be structured to protect a child’s privacy while holding wrongdoers accountable.

Laurence Banville, Esq.: With the recent allegations against the former Sweeny Fire Chief, what legal options do victims and their families have?

Anjali Nigam, Esq.: Victims can file criminal charges against the abuser, which is happening in this case. Additionally, they have the option to bring civil lawsuits against both the perpetrator and any organizations that may have failed to protect them.

Banville: That sounds like an important path for accountability. What obstacles might victims encounter when considering these steps?

Nigam: One significant obstacle is the emotional burden of coming forward. Many victims grapple with fear, shame, and potential backlash from the community. However, it is vital for them to know that support is available to help them navigate these challenges.

Banville: Are there specific resources available to assist victims through this process?

Nigam: Absolutely. Numerous organizations provide counseling, legal assistance, and guidance tailored for survivors. It's important for victims to connect with these resources to empower themselves in their journey.
