Ex-Elvaton Christian Academy Teacher and Jessup Pastor William Jones Arrested; Accused of Sexually Abusing Five Students

Millersville, MD – William Jones, 58, a former teacher at Elvaton Christian Academy in Millersville and pastor at Jessup Baptist Church, was arrested Friday following an investigation by Anne Arundel County Police involving allegations of sexual abuse of minors.

Investigation Uncovers Multiple Victims of Sexual Abuse by Christian School Teacher

The case began on May 1 after a mother contacted authorities, reporting inappropriate sexual conduct by Jones, a former teacher at the school. Jones, known among students and faculty as “Mr. Bill,” taught at Elvaton Christian Academy from 2020 until March 27, 2025. During the course of the investigation, police identified five student victims, confirming Jones’s position in direct contact with children during his tenure.

Accused Teacher Has Affiliation with Mission Fields International

Court documents state that Jones is connected to Mission Fields International, in addition to his roles at the academy and Jessup Baptist Church. His affiliations with the school, church, and international organization are currently under review as authorities continue to gather information.

Multiple Child Sex Crime Charges Filed and Call for More Information

Jones now faces several charges, including sex abuse of a minor, second-degree assault, and multiple counts of other sexual offenses. Requests for comment have been submitted to Elvaton Christian Academy, Jessup Baptist Church, and Mission Fields International.

Anyone with information about Jones or this investigation is encouraged to contact the Anne Arundel County Child Abuse Unit at 410-222-4733. Tips can also be submitted anonymously through the county’s tip line at 410-222-4700.

Our team sat down with Maryland sex abuse lawyer Aaron Blank to discuss the steps families can take when a child suffers abuse by a school staff member. Their conversation covered how to report incidents, the possibility of filing civil lawsuits, and the support available to help victims and their families navigate the legal process.

Laurence Banville, Esq.: With the arrest of pastor and teacher William Jones, what steps can parents of affected students take if they believe their child has been harmed?

Aaron Blank, Esq.: Families can start by reaching out to law enforcement if they haven’t done so already. Reporting is essential for both criminal prosecution and for building a legal case. After that, consulting with an attorney experienced in child sex abuse matters is important to understand civil options.

Banville: What avenues are available through the civil legal system?

Blank: In Maryland, parents can file lawsuits against both the individual perpetrator and any institutions that may have failed to protect the children, such as the school or affiliated organizations. These cases can lead to compensation for emotional trauma, therapy costs, and other related damages.

Banville: Is there a timeframe families should be aware of?

Blank: Absolutely. While Maryland has extended statutes of limitations for child sexual abuse cases, time is still a factor. Acting promptly helps preserve evidence and strengthens the case.

Banville: What else should families know right now?

Blank: They should know they’re not alone, and resources are available to support both legal action and the healing process for their children. Early intervention and counseling can make a significant difference.
