EL PASO, TX – Prosecutors revealed during a bond hearing Tuesday that cheer coach Christopher Sotelo with the Texas Bandits All-Stars could have as many as 100 victims connected to allegations of recording children at a local gymnastics facility.
Assistant District Attorney Cristina Viesca-Santos told the court that investigators plan to present all 100 suspected cases at once, emphasizing the magnitude of the investigation and its impact on the community.
Prosecutors Say El Paso Cheer Coach May Have Over 100 Victims
During Tuesday’s hearing, Sotelo’s bond was reduced on three of five charges. Originally set at $100,000, $50,000, and $20,000, each was lowered to $15,000. The judge ordered that Sotelo remain under intensive level supervision, report weekly to a probation officer, and stay at least 200 yards away from the Texas Bandits All-Stars facility on Pellicano Drive.
Court documents confirm Sotelo has bonded out of jail but remains under strict monitoring while prosecutors prepare consolidated charges.
District Attorney Reaffirms Commitment to Child Protection
El Paso County District Attorney James Montoya released a statement following the hearing, saying his team prioritizes cases affecting the safety of children and the broader community. Montoya underscored that bond decisions, while constitutionally protected, must consider the threat level posed to victims and public safety.
