San Antonio, TX - A Northside Independent School District employee has been arrested after allegedly engaging in an inappropriate relationship with a 16-year-old student who has special needs, according to an arrest affidavit.

George Rene Aguilar Jr., 32, a teacher aide at Warren High School, faces criminal charges after investigators say he kissed and inappropriately touched the student several times. The affidavit states Aguilar admitted to police that he had multiple instances of contact with the teen and had discussed marrying her and having children once she was no longer a student.

Video Evidence and Arrest Details

Investigators were presented with video evidence reportedly showing Aguilar kissing the student inside a classroom. The footage, according to police, supported allegations detailed in the affidavit. Aguilar was taken into custody and has since been placed on administrative leave by the district.

District Response and Ongoing Investigation

Northside ISD confirmed that Warren High School administrators initiated an internal investigation immediately after learning of the allegations. The inquiry was handled in coordination with Northside ISD Employee Relations and the district’s police department.

In a statement provided to KSAT, a district spokesperson said, “NISD has filed all necessary reports with relevant agencies, including Child Protective Services (CPS) and the San Antonio Police Department (SAPD). We are cooperating fully with these authorities to ensure a thorough and complete investigation. This is a very serious and sensitive matter, and we are limited in the specific details we can share due to the ongoing nature of the investigation.”

Aguilar remains under investigation, and no additional information has been released regarding court proceedings or bond conditions.

When allegations arise involving a school employee accused of sexually abusing a student, families often face confusion, fear, and uncertainty about what to do next. To learn more, we spoke with Texas sexual abuse lawyer Anjali Nigam about possible legal paths families can take when a student is harmed by a school employee.

Laurence Banville, Esq: When a case like this surfaces, what legal steps can the family of a student take to protect their child and hold those involved accountable?

Anjali Nigam, Esq: Families in these situations have both criminal and civil options. The criminal process involves the state prosecuting the offender, but the family may also seek justice through a civil lawsuit. That lawsuit can target not only the individual who committed the abuse but also the school district if there’s evidence of negligence—such as failure to supervise, report, or enforce protective measures.

Banville: Are there time limits or restrictions families should be aware of?

Nigam: Yes. Texas law sets a specific statute of limitations for civil claims related to sexual abuse, though recent reform has extended these limits in some cases involving minors. Because every situation is different, it’s vital to speak to a lawyer as soon as possible to understand what deadlines apply.

Banville: Can families pursue compensation for emotional trauma and long-term care?

Nigam: Absolutely. Civil claims can request damages for psychological support, counseling, and other costs connected to the abuse. More importantly, these cases often push institutions to improve their safety policies, helping protect other students from similar harm.
