The suspect has been identified as 33-year-old Yersson Solarte, who served as a pastor at Ipul Pentecostal Church in Sanford, Florida. Police say they received a report on April 10 regarding Solarte’s alleged misconduct involving two juvenile church members.
Investigation Uncovers Disturbing Allegations

He is accused of inappropriately touching both girls and sexually assaulting one of them at the church. The incidents reportedly occurred on church property, where both victims were regular attendees.
Arrest and Legal Proceedings
On May 7, Solarte was arrested by members of the Prince William County Police Department in Virginia. He was later transported to the John E. Polk Correctional Facility in Florida, where he now faces charges related to sexual battery of a minor and lewd and lascivious molestation.

Solarte has been removed from his position at Ipul Pentecostal Church following the allegations. Authorities believe there may be more victims who have not yet come forward. The Sanford Police Department is urging anyone with information about similar incidents to contact them immediately.
Florida Sexual Abuse Attorney Explains Options for Victims of Clergy Abuse
Survivors of sexual abuse by church leaders often face a difficult road to recovery, but understanding their legal rights can be an important step forward. In this interview, Florida sexual abuse attorney Michael Haggard answers key questions about the legal actions available to those harmed by a pastor, offering clarity on the process, available support, and the importance of coming forward.
Laurence Banville: Michael, for those who have experienced abuse by a pastor or church leader in Florida, what steps can they take to protect their rights?
Michael Haggard, Esq.: Survivors can file a civil lawsuit against the perpetrator and, in many cases, the church itself. Florida law allows victims to seek compensation for medical expenses, therapy, lost wages, and pain and suffering. It’s important to act quickly, as there are statutes of limitations that apply, although recent changes in the law have extended the time survivors have to come forward.
Banville: What support can survivors expect from your firm during this process?
Haggard: Our team provides free, confidential consultations and handles every case with compassion and sensitivity. We guide clients through each step, from gathering evidence to negotiating settlements or taking the case to trial. Our goal is to make sure survivors feel supported and empowered throughout the legal process.
Banville: Is it possible for other victims to come forward even after criminal charges have been filed?
Haggard: Absolutely. A criminal case does not prevent survivors from pursuing civil action. In fact, additional victims coming forward can strengthen both the criminal and civil cases. Anyone with information or who has experienced similar abuse should reach out to a qualified attorney as soon as possible.
