BUTLER COUNTY, PA — Pennsylvania State Police announced the arrest of an elementary school teacher and youth volleyball coach accused of sexual misconduct involving a teenager. Troopers say Jared Lampus, 50, of Sarver, was taken into custody Friday following an investigation that uncovered allegations of sexual contact with a 16-year-old child.
Multiple Counties Involved in Alleged Offenses of Child Sexual Abuse
Investigators say the misconduct occurred across Butler, Armstrong, and Allegheny counties. Lampus faces a long list of charges, including rape, sexual assault, corruption of minors, and related offenses. He is being held at the Butler County Jail while the investigation continues.
School District Responds to Teacher Accused of Sexual Misconduct with Teen
Lampus is employed as a teacher at Buffalo Elementary School in the Freeport Area School District. District officials confirmed that Lampus has been placed on leave while State Police determine the full scope of the allegations.
“The safety of our students is the highest priority of the Freeport Area School District,” the district said in a statement, adding that information remains limited at this stage of the investigation.
Pittsburgh Elite Volleyball Association Issues Statement
In addition to his teaching role, Lampus also served as a youth coach for the Pittsburgh Elite Volleyball Association. The organization stated that while the criminal investigation does not involve Lampus’ role within the association, he has resigned. His resignation was made effective July 30, and officials note he has not returned to the facility since that date.

“A gentleman, 50 years old, and I think the girl was 16, it’s disgusting. I don’t know any other word to describe it,” said county resident Lou Falsetti.
In Sarver, locals echoed similar feelings of disbelief.
“Unbelievable… just shocking. I never thought we’d see something like that here in our local school,” said Jim Mayurik.
“I’m just shocked, amazed it happened in our little community. Very disturbing,” added Polly Mayurik, emphasizing the need for open communication between children and parents.
