Irving, TX – A shocking case of alleged child abuse has emerged in North Texas, involving a pediatric medical assistant accused of molesting young patients under the guise of medical care. Angel Nunez, 25, was arrested by Irving police on September 5, 2024, on charges of indecency with a child at Little Spurs Pediatrics in Irving.

Allegations Surface at Little Spurs Pediatrics

The investigation began in August when authorities received a tip suggesting Nunez had inappropriate sexual contact with multiple children at Little Spurs. The pediatric clinic where Nunez worked alerted police after learning of his alleged molestation of a 14-year-old boy during what was supposed to be a routine medical examination.

Deceptive “Medical Exams” Led to Allegations of Child Molestation

According to police, Nunez exploited his position to conduct unauthorized and inappropriate examinations on young patients. An arrest warrant affidavit details how Nunez allegedly performed a genital exam on a 14-year-old boy during a sports physical, despite lacking the training and authorization for such procedures.

Irving Police Detective Andy Padrutt stated, “Part of his duties were to take vitals and stuff, but he was not a physician himself.”

Investigation Identified Multiple Victims of Sexual Abuse at Pediatric Clinic

As of now, authorities have identified three victims, but Detective Padrutt believes there may be more. The police are urging parents whose children may have interacted with Nunez to come forward and contact them at 972-273-1010.

Employment History and Company Response to Medical Assistant’s Arrest

Nunez worked for Little Spurs Pediatrics for approximately one year before being terminated in August 2024. He was employed at locations in Irving, Grand Prairie, Arlington, and Fort Worth.
Little Spurs Pediatrics released a statement acknowledging the incident and their cooperation with law enforcement:

“We recently learned that an employee conducted a medical procedure beyond their scope of practice and outside of our established guidelines. As soon as we were made aware, we promptly reported the incident to Child Protective Services, launched an internal investigation, and terminated the employment of the employee in question.”

Following his arrest, Nunez was released from the Dallas County jail after posting a $100,000 bond. The investigation is ongoing, and authorities are encouraging parents to discuss any past interactions their children may have had with Nunez.

Legal Recourse for Victims Abused by Pediatric Medical Professional

The recent arrest of Angel Nunez, a pediatric medical assistant accused of molesting children under his care, has sent shockwaves through North Texas communities. As families grapple with the unsettling allegations, questions arise about the legal rights of victims and the accountability of healthcare providers. To address these concerns, we spoke with Anjali Nigam, a seasoned Texas attorney specializing in child sexual abuse cases. In this interview, Nigam offers valuable information on the legal options available to affected families and discusses how negligent parties can be held responsible. Her insights provide a roadmap for those seeking to navigate the complex legal landscape surrounding this distressing case.

Laurence Banville, Esq.: What legal options are available for children who have been sexually abused by a medical professional?

Anjali Nigam, Esq.: In Texas, victims have the right to pursue both criminal and civil cases. While the criminal case focuses on punishing the perpetrator, a civil lawsuit can help survivors obtain compensation for their trauma and hold negligent parties accountable.

Banville: How might a healthcare facility be held responsible in a case like this?

Nigam: Healthcare providers have a duty to protect their patients. If Little Spurs Pediatrics failed to conduct proper background checks, ignored warning signs, or didn’t have adequate supervision protocols in place, they could be found negligent. This could make them liable for damages in a civil lawsuit.

Banville: What advice would you give to families affected by this case?

Nigam: I urge families to report any suspicions to law enforcement immediately. Additionally, they should consult with an experienced attorney who can guide them through the legal process and help protect their rights. Time is often critical in these cases, so acting promptly is key.
