Denton, TX – A Denton chiropractor faces serious legal trouble after being indicted on five counts of sexual assault. The charges stem from alleged incidents involving two patients at his chiropractic practice in 2023.

Chiropractor Accused of Sexually Assaulting Multiple Women

Hector Reyes III, 39, owner and founder of MSK ProHealth Centers, was arrested Thursday at his business located on Lillian Miller Parkway in Denton. The arrest follows a grand jury indictment on Tuesday, September 17, 2024, which brought forth five sexual assault charges against Reyes.

The charges are based on allegations from two women who reported separate incidents to the Denton Police Department in June 2023. The first woman’s report resulted in four charges, while the fifth charge relates to the second woman’s allegation.

Legal Proceedings and Sexual Assault Charges Against Chiropractor

As of Friday afternoon, Reyes remained in the Denton County Jail with bail set at $115,000. The Denton County Sheriff’s Office made the arrest without incident at Reyes’ place of business.

Ongoing Investigation Amid Sexual Assault Case

The Denton Police Department is actively investigating the case. They urge anyone with information about Reyes or any unreported incidents to contact Detective David Acrey.

Previous Criminal History

Court records reveal that Reyes has a prior criminal history. He previously pleaded guilty to a second-degree felony charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon for a 2005 incident. Initially receiving an adjudicated sentence of six years, he ultimately served three years in prison for this offense.

Legal Options for Victims of Chiropractor Sexual Assault

Sexual assault by healthcare professionals is a serious issue that can leave victims feeling powerless and uncertain about their rights. In the aftermath of recent allegations against a Denton chiropractor, many are questioning what legal recourse is available to those who have experienced such trauma. To address these concerns, we spoke with Anjali Nigam, a seasoned Texas sexual abuse lawyer. In this interview, Nigam offers valuable information on the legal pathways open to victims, including both criminal and civil options. She also discusses how to hold not just individual perpetrators, but also potentially negligent institutions, accountable for these heinous acts. Whether you’re a victim, a concerned citizen, or a legal professional, this conversation provides critical insights into navigating the complex landscape of sexual assault cases in the healthcare sector.

Laurence Banville, Esq.: Anjali, what legal options do victims of chiropractor sexual assault have in Texas?

Anjali Nigam, Esq.: Victims have several avenues for legal recourse. They can file criminal charges, which we see happening in this case. Additionally, they can pursue civil lawsuits against the perpetrator and potentially the clinic or facility where the assault occurred.

Banville: How can victims hold negligent parties accountable beyond the individual chiropractor?

Nigam: In some cases, the clinic or employer may be held liable if they failed to properly screen employees, ignored previous complaints, or didn’t have adequate safeguards in place. This is known as negligent hiring or supervision.

Banville: What advice would you give to victims considering legal action?

Nigam: I’d urge victims to speak with an experienced attorney as soon as possible. There are time limits for filing lawsuits, and early action can help preserve evidence. It’s also vital to report the incident to the police and seek medical attention promptly.

Banville: Thank you for sharing your expertise, Anjali.

Nigam: You’re welcome. I hope this information helps victims understand their rights and options.
