Leander, TX – A shocking incident has rocked Rouse High School, located at 1222 Raider Way, Leander, TX 78641, as one of its teachers and coaches, Brandon Matthew Hopp, was arrested on Tuesday, February 27, 2024. Hopp was charged with sexual assault of a child, a second-degree felony.

Allegations of Teacher Engaged in Sexual Relationship with Student

Leander police acted on an anonymous tip suggesting that Hopp might be involved in an inappropriate relationship with a student. A probable cause affidavit revealed that Hopp and a female student had been communicating via social media for over a month. Video evidence from Feb. 15 captured the student leaving and reentering Hopp’s classroom alone, with the student later alleging that sexual activity took place during that time.

Texas Teacher Arrested for Child Sexual Assault

Hopp, aged 27, was swiftly booked into Williamson County Jail but released on a $25,000 bond the same day. The district emphasized its commitment to addressing all allegations of misconduct seriously and urged immediate reporting of any inappropriate behavior within their schools.

Prior to his arrest, Hopp had been placed on administrative leave following suspicions of an inappropriate relationship with a student. The district had been made aware of the situation on Feb. 16 and continues to keep Hopp on administrative leave as investigations unfold.

Attorney Interview: Empowering Victims of School Abuse Through Legal Action

In this interview, attorney Laurence Banville engages in a compelling discussion with Texas child abuse attorney Marc Lenahan, Esq. Together, they explore the legal avenues available to victims of school abuse, highlighting the process of filing a civil case against liable parties and seeking justice for those affected by such traumatic experiences.

Laurence Banville, Esq. (LB): Good day, Marc. As a child abuse attorney in Texas, could you elaborate on the options for victims of school abuse?

Marc Lenahan, Esq. (ML): Absolutely, Laurence. Victims of school abuse, like those affected by the recent incident at Rouse High School, oftentimes have grounds to file a civil case. They can seek justice and compensation by holding liable parties accountable for the harm caused.

LB: What steps can these victims take to initiate a civil case and what are the potential outcomes they might expect?

ML: Victims can start by consulting with an experienced attorney to assess their case and determine the best course of action. By filing a civil lawsuit, they can seek damages for physical and emotional trauma, medical expenses, and other losses incurred due to the abuse. Successful outcomes can provide not only financial compensation but also a sense of closure and validation for the victims.

LB: How important is it for victims to come forward and seek legal assistance in such cases?

ML: It is crucial for victims to speak up and seek legal help. By taking action, they not only stand up for themselves but also help prevent future incidents of abuse. Legal support can empower victims to navigate the complex legal process and ensure their voices are heard in seeking justice.

LB: Thank you, Marc, for sharing your valuable knowledge on this important topic.

ML: It’s my pleasure, Laurence. I am committed to advocating for the rights of victims and ensuring they receive the support and representation they deserve in pursuing justice against those responsible for their suffering.
