Plano, TX – A masseuse at a Plano spa has been arrested following allegations that he attempted to sexually assault clients. According to the Plano Police Department, the suspect, 49-year-old Gang Li, was taken into custody after detectives uncovered evidence during an ongoing investigation.
Arrest Made After Investigation at Sunshine Wellness Spa
Li was employed at Sunshine Wellness Spa in Plano prior to his arrest. Police say the business had come under scrutiny after reports of unwanted sexual contact surfaced. During their investigation, detectives also discovered that Li did not obtain his massage therapist license until May 19, 2025. Authorities are now examining whether his current license is valid.
Police Say Investigation Remains Ongoing
Plano Police confirmed in a Friday release that the case centers on a charge of attempted sexual assault. However, it remains unclear if Li was practicing massage therapy without a license before the paperwork was issued. Investigators are continuing to review his employment history and spa operations.
Officials Urge Potential Victims to Come Forward
The department is asking anyone who visited Sunshine Wellness Spa and received services from Li prior to May 19, 2025—or experienced any unwanted or unsolicited sexual contact at the hands of Li—to come forward. Individuals with information are urged to contact the department’s Special Victims Unit tip line at (972) 941-2044.
Police stress that the investigation is ongoing and additional charges may be considered as more evidence is gathered.
Texas Lawyer Explains Legal Options for Victims of Massage Therapist Sexual Assault
When reports of sexual assault arise in professional settings like massage spas, victims are often left uncertain about where to turn. To provide clarity, we spoke with experienced Texas sexual abuse lawyer Anjali Nigam, who discussed the legal steps survivors can take—ranging from criminal complaints to civil lawsuits—to hold offenders and negligent businesses accountable.
Laurence Banville, Esq.: Thank you for joining me, Anjali. Victims of sexual assault by a massage therapist often feel overwhelmed. What’s the first legal step available to them?
Anjali Nigam, Esq.: The most important action is reporting the incident to law enforcement so an investigation can begin. Beyond the criminal process, victims also have the option to pursue civil claims against both the individual offender and, in some cases, the spa or business that employed them.
Banville: Can survivors hold a business accountable even if the assault was carried out by an employee?
Nigam: Yes, under certain circumstances. If the business failed to properly vet or supervise a therapist, or allowed someone to work without the proper license, it could face liability. Civil lawsuits can provide compensation for medical costs, counseling, and the emotional damage caused.
Banville: Many survivors worry about speaking out. What would you say to them?
Nigam: You are not alone. Confidential legal guidance is available, and taking action can not only help your own recovery but also protect others from experiencing the same harm.
