Abington Township, Pennsylvania – Ramon Garcia, 33, the man accused of posing as a nurse and sexually assaulting multiple women, came face to face with his accusers during a preliminary hearing on Friday, May 3, 2024.

Carbon Health Urgent Care Worker Arrested For Sexual Assault

Arrested on March 11, 2024, while working at Carbon Health Urgent Care in Abington Township, Garcia’s alleged crimes have sent shockwaves through the community. The investigation was initiated on March 1 when a woman reported a disturbing encounter with a worker named “Ramon” to the police. As authorities delved into the first incident, another victim came forward with allegations of inappropriate touching during a March 9 examination at the same healthcare facility.

Investigation Leads to More Sexual Abuse Victims

Initially charged with aggravated indecent assault and invasion of privacy, Garcia’s arrest prompted additional victims to step forward. Women who sought medical assistance at both Carbon Health Urgent Care locations where Garcia worked disclosed that they, too, had been victimized. Investigators revealed disturbing details of the assaults, including physical exams of private parts, unauthorized photography, and inappropriate comments.

The Montgomery County District Attorney, Kevin Steele, commended the victims for their bravery in coming forward. “This defendant, who was not a nurse, took advantage of the trust that patients extend to true medical professionals by assaulting and violating them,” said Steele.

24 Charges Against Garcia as 11 Women Come Forward

Following an extensive investigation, officials have filed a total of 24 charges against Garcia, ranging from aggravated indecent assault and invasion of privacy to wiretap violations and impersonating a licensed nurse. The severity of the charges reflects the gravity of the crimes committed.

Responses to Charges and Allegations

During Garcia’s preliminary hearing on May 3, his defense attorney, Paul Lang, expressed remorse on behalf of his client. Meanwhile, Carbon Health, the healthcare company where Garcia was formerly employed, issued a statement to NBC10. They acknowledged the shocking allegations and emphasized their commitment to maintaining a safe environment at all their facilities. Carbon Health has undertaken an internal investigation and is cooperating fully with law enforcement and other relevant authorities.

Possibility of More Victims

Law enforcement officials suspect that Garcia may have victimized more individuals, urging potential victims to come forward. If you believe you were victimized by Garcia, please contact the Abington Township Police at 267-536-1102.

Prepare to uncover the critical information necessary to empower survivors and hold responsible parties liable in the face of such grievous misconduct.

Attorney Laurence Banville: Thank you for joining us, Mr. D’Andrea. Can you briefly explain the legal options available to victims of sexual abuse by medical professionals?

Attorney Guy D’Andrea: Certainly, Mr. Banville. Victims of sexual abuse by nurses or medical professionals have the right to seek justice through legal means. They can pursue a civil lawsuit against the responsible parties, such as the perpetrator and the healthcare facility where the abuse took place. These lawsuits aim to hold those negligent parties accountable for their actions.

Banville: How can victims ensure their voices are heard and their rights protected throughout the legal process?

D’Andrea: It’s crucial for victims to seek legal representation from experienced sexual abuse attorneys who understand the complexities of these cases. A skilled attorney will guide them through the legal process, ensuring their rights are protected, and their voices are heard. They will work diligently to gather evidence, build a strong case, and fight for the compensation and justice the victims deserve.

Banville: Are there any specific laws or regulations in Pennsylvania that victims should be aware of when pursuing legal action?

D’Andrea: Absolutely. In Pennsylvania, victims of sexual abuse have a limited time to file a lawsuit, known as the statute of limitations. It’s important for victims to consult with an attorney promptly to understand their rights and ensure they meet any applicable deadlines. Additionally, Pennsylvania has laws that allow victims to hold institutions accountable for their failure to properly screen, train, or supervise their employees.

D’Andrea: My advice would be to reach out to a qualified sexual abuse attorney for a confidential consultation.
